Mini Rocketman concept car

Buying a car is something that has seen generations all a flutter, working out finances, whether it will be suitable for the family, whether it can cut the mustard where you need it to. Whilst we may no longer need starting handles (more's the pity), we're still fascinated by the look and feel of vintage cars, the kind that our grandparents hopped into for a merry drive around the countryside.

But what of the modern incarnations of theses motors? We're not likely to see a big resurgence in popularity of the old school jalopies, but there are certain classics that just won't fade away. Take for instance the Mini Cooper, a car that had an impact upon an entire generation due to its compact nature and effortless charm. Iconic, redolent of an era that has echoed throughout history, the little Mini was, for many, their first and only automotive love.

Inside there are three permanent seats and one fold-down number for short journeys. The permanent ones are on rails to maximise interior space and the instrument cluster moves backwards and forwards with the driver. MINI’s trademark Centre Speedo makes its customary appearance, albeit this time offering high-resolution 3-D graphics, in-car internet and a detachable hard drive that can be taken anywhere. A trackball on the steering wheel replaces the iDrive-esque unit on current model MINIs.

All in all it’s not a bad effort from the pseudo-British carmaker. As always, you can check out our full gallery or leave a comment below.
